People have been asking for updates. I thought nobody read my blog anymore. Anyway. Let’s see what’s happened these paste weeks….oh yeah.
There was the 777 Tropical Pool Party, which was extremely excellent. I got drunk, there was live music and a DJ. There was plenty of food and drink and even more friends we all invited. Unexpected highlight of the evening was our performance of the Village people with YMCA….gawd we sucked. But the dive into the pool was a great distraction at that point.
Beltring. The biggest event in England for all things military. I had a string of the roughest nights in my life ever because some bar-stewards didn’t keep to the ‘no-loud-music-after-2AM’ rule. The rain and mud didn’t help much either. The place was a swamp….a swamp crossed by fast moving 4×4s, Argos, Minibikes, tanks…..all breaking the 5mph speedlimit. fheh. That was the bad stuff. The rest of it was all good though. Met old friends, made new ones. Drank a lot. Did not spend so much on the fair though (ferry ticket and hotel were expensive enough). Instead of staying over until monday on the campgrounds, a few of us headed for Dover and stuck it out in a hotel (The Churchill) where I had my first night of good sleep in half a week. Next morning we took a stroll into Dover and then headed up to Ramsgate to catch our ferry back. All the bad weather from England followed us back home too. All in all, I’ve had my bellyful of Beltring for a couple of years. See the Photos in the gallery
Then there was the Sgt Wilson’s Army Show in my hometown last weekend. We were invited to participate with some old-timers. So the 6 of us headed into town with our two jeeps and settled in for a warm afternoon with food and drink and my friend got to act as a chauffeur for Sgt Wilson and his ladyfriends all day, driving them from and to the stage every 40 minutes or so. I think the public really enjoyed the show. I took some pictures with my new Leica IIIa. I hope they turned out okay. will be posting them up as soon as I get them back from the developers.
Yesterday we went to a local themepark called the Efteling with a group of friends where we went on to enjoy pretty much all the big rides the park had to offer. It was great. The weather was just right (until it started raining when I went home). Not overly-crowded and no long waiting lines. Again I took some portrait shots with my leica. Still need to finish the roll before I can share them with you.
Next weekend I’ll be visiting the Oldtimer Fly-in in Diest/Schaffen again, but only for a day this time. Should be a good place to score some snapshots
